Privacy policy

For the free app at tinytrailsapp.com. Effective date: October 15, 2026.

The short version

Tiny Trails doesn't collect information about you or your child. Your trails, photos, buddy picture and progress stay in the browser on your device. There's no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics and no cookies.

Who we are

Tiny Trails is run by its developer, Kermit Strachan. For anything in this policy, email kc.strachan@gmail.com. This policy covers the Tiny Trails app at tinytrailsapp.com and the email sign-up on our website.

What stays on your device

Everything you make in Tiny Trails is saved in your browser on that device: trail names, steps, pictures, photos you add, your buddy photo, and your child's progress. We can't see any of it. The app also saves its own files on your device so it works without internet.

If you download a backup, that file goes wherever you save it. We never receive it.

To erase everything, clear this site's data in your browser settings. Download a backup first if you want to keep your trails.

What our web host sees

When your device loads the app, our host, Vercel, receives standard request details: your IP address, browser type and the time. Every website host receives these. We use them only to deliver the app and keep it secure, never to identify or track anyone. Vercel handles them under its own privacy policy.

Children's privacy

Tiny Trails is made for children under 13. The app doesn't send your child's information to us, so we don't collect personal information from children. The only data that reaches our host is the request details above, used only to run and secure the app.

Questions about your child's privacy? Email kc.strachan@gmail.com.

If you join our email list

Our website has an optional sign-up form. It collects your email, the plan you picked, an optional answer about how you'd use Tiny Trails, and your confirmation that you're 18 or older. It never asks about your child.

We use it only to send Tiny Trails news. We keep it until you unsubscribe, or 12 months after Tiny Trails Cloud launches, whichever comes first. Email kc.strachan@gmail.comany time to see or delete it, and we'll handle it within 30 days.

Who we share with

We don't sell or share your information. Two companies host Tiny Trails for us:

CompanyWhat it doesWhat it handles
VercelHosts the app and our sign-up pageStandard request details
SupabaseStores our email sign-up listEmail sign-up information

We'll also share information if the law requires it.

Your rights

We don't hold any app data about you, so there's nothing in the app to request or delete through us. For our email list, you can ask to see or delete your information, including under California law. We won't treat you differently for asking. We don't track you across other websites, so browser “Do Not Track” signals don't change anything here.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the effective date at the top. Tiny Trails Cloud, our upcoming paid version, will have its own policy. We'll ask for your permission before it collects anything about your child.
