What we aim for

We want every grown-up and every kid to be able to use Tiny Trails. Our target is WCAG 2.2 level AA, the usual standard for websites. We don't meet all of it yet, and the gaps we know about are listed below.

What works today

  • You can zoom every page, up to five times.
  • Text is dark enough to read against its background.
  • Everything works with a keyboard. Steps can be moved with Move up and Move down buttons as well as by dragging.
  • In Drag mode, tapping the current picture also finishes the step, so dragging is never required.
  • Screen readers hear each finished step, the end of the trail, and the timer at halfway, one minute left, and time's up.
  • If your device is set to reduce motion, the buddy, dialogs and celebration stop sliding and bouncing.

Known gaps

  • We have checked the app with automated tools and with a keyboard. We have not yet tested it with VoiceOver or TalkBack.
  • On the play screen, pinch-zoom is turned off over the trail itself so small fingers don't zoom it by accident. The rest of the screen, and your browser's own zoom, still work.
  • Fitting a photo in the crop circle still needs dragging. The zoom slider works with a keyboard, but moving the photo doesn't yet.
  • Photos you upload don't get a written description. A screen reader reads the step's name instead.
